Canon PhotoMarathon

The Canon PhotoMarathon is a 1-day on-the-spot photo contest that lets you actually go out and shoot new images within the specified location or area. You’ll get the chance to compete against other amateur/professional photographers & hobbyist under strict contest deadlines. Just submit the images you’ve captured subject to judges’ evaluation. Your thematic creative instincts, as well as your ability to work under tight timeline pressures will be thoroughly tested in this exciting and unique competition.

PE Rhytmis Dance Festival Participating Schools

A special dance showcase presentation of field demo participated in by Physical Education (PE) students from different schools of Cagayan de Oro City on August 25, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Pelaez Sports Center Complex. With the active involvement and participation of the Misamis Oriental and City Schools Division together with the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education in the region, guidelines were created. Participants should be composed of at least 1,000 students per school. Special Awards were also given to deserving groups.

Change Route for Kagay-an Festival Float Parade

PRESS RELEASE: KAGAY-AN FESTIVAL 5th FLOAT PARADE
August 18, 2011
There will be major changes in parade route for the Float Parade this year in consideration of the ongoing construction of Marcos Highway fly-over. The 5th Float Parade is set on August 27, 2011 Saturday and supervised by Pueblo de oro Development Corporation for Promote CDO.

Spectators are advised that the parade will still kick off from Rodelsa Circle by 7:00 AM passing thru Velez Street, but instead to going straight towards Velez-Licoan-Recto junction, the parade will turn from Velez Street to Luna Street then go straight to Osmena Street from Osmena, the participants will turn right towards Coca-Cola plant in Claro Recto and proceed to Limketkai Drive main entry point in Lapasan where the end point of the Parade will be held.

There are 69 confirmed participants which will include 15 competing floats, 2 sponsor floats, 22 drum and bugle corps and some civic organization groups, including from the PNP, Philippine Army, Coast Guard among others.

5th Float Parade participants are requested to be at the assembly area as early as 5:30 AM. The City PNP has assured the organizers that security will be tightened for the participants and spectators.

There will be showbiz personalities who will join the parade, including the winners of Ms. Kagay-an 2011, city officials and a lot more.

Limketkai center will serve as the last judging point for the float parade competition and drum and bugle corp.

WHO WILL BE THE NEXT MS. KAGAY-AN?

This year’s Ms. Kagay-an 2011 is a grand gathering of 12 equally talented and beautiful young ladies from Cagayan de Oro which will promise to make the Pageant Night something to watch our for on Aug. 24 Thursday 7pm at the Atrium of Limketkai Center.

The pageant night is open to the public and will also be seen Live over GNN Chan 45 for non-cable tv subscribers and Chan 29 for cable tv subscribers of Parasat Cable TV.

Department of Tourism region X who is spearheading the event for Promote CDO is in full gear now to make this event the grandest and most anticipated event in the Fiesta celebration of the city.

There is an interesting mix of candidates this year- students, working young professionals and travel enthusiasts who have gone through the usual tough selection process. Sidelights of Ms. Kagay-an 2011 included the Press presentation held in Malasag Eco Garden Resort, paraded their swimwear in N Hotel, and was in full fashion mood for the Casual wear presentation held in City Tourism hall courtesy of Ororama. Individual talents were presented in SM City and they did a high fashion ramp walk during the MAGS on the Catwalk fashion show in Limketkai Center.
